Two hardcore Naxalites, one of them allegedly involved in Jehanabad jail-break, surrendered before the Senior Superintendent of Police's (SSP) office in Gaya district today.

Both Babu Chand Manjhi and Rambali Bhuiyan were wanted in more than a dozen cases lodged in different police stations of the state, SSP Manu Maharaj said.

They handed over two country-made revolvers, a rifle besides five cartridges meant for rifle and revolver, the SSP said.

He said sub-zonal commander Babu Chand Manjhi was involved in Jehanabad jail break while another hardcore Maoist Rambali Bhuiyan was involved in a police picket blast under Mohanpur police station of the district.

The Naxalites had attacked the police picket last year.

The SSP said that Rs 1.5 lakh cash was given to each of the Naxalites as per government norms.

Besides, they will also be getting Rs 4000 every month till they are self-sufficient to eke out a livelihood.

The duo belonged to Gandhara village under Mohanpur police station of the district, the SSP said.
