2 Nepali residents arrested with leopard skin

Unaccounted sum of over Rs four lakh was also seized from them, police said.

Special Operation Group of Kotdwara Police, after getting a tip-off, carried out checking of vehicles coming from hills near Lal Pul bridge here, said Station Officer BL Hindwal.

During the checking drive, two Nepali youths, Tenjing Lama and Dorje Lama, were found carrying the leopard skin in their vehicle, the SO said.

Rs 4,06,500 were also recovered from them, police said, adding, the duo have revealed that they intended to sell the skin to tourists at Kullu-Manali in Himachal Pradesh.

The Nepali residents also told that they had bought the skin from a person at Chamoli, the police official said.

 

Police have registered a case under the wild life protection act and sent them to Jail at Pauri.
