2 new types of contraceptives launched in Haryana

Two new types -- an injectable variety and Chaaya tablets -- of contraceptives were launched in Haryana, a senior official said here today.

Besides, the state government has also launched the Family PlanningLogistic Management Information System (FP- LMIS) software to streamline the supply chain and lay stress on quality aspect of family planning, S K Sikdar, deputy commissioner (FW) MOHFW, said here.

Speaking about various fertility indicators and the launch of injectable contraceptives for the first time in Haryana under the Antara Programme, Sikdar said, "It is to be given once in three months, is very effective and relatively safe and has very few side effects."
 

He said another new contraceptive launched in Haryana for the first time named Chaaya tablets which have to be given twice a week in first three weeks, and once a week thereafter.

He said the Family PlanningLogistic Management Information System (FP-LMIS) software has been launched to streamline the supply chain.

The software will lend quality to the family planning programme, including quarterly uploading of the list of empanelled sterilisation service providers, he said.
