2 Non-resident Bangladeshis held for crossing without passport

Two Non-resident Bangladeshis (NRB) with French citizenship have been apprehended from Kulubari near Indo-Bangla international border here while trying to crossover to the neighbouring country without passport.

Litan Kumar Das and Kajal Paul were apprehended by the BSF last evening and handed over to police, Babul Das, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Sonamura said today.

The two had earlier arrived here from Kolkata by a by flight.

"Perhaps they were going to their ancestral home in Moulavibazar district of Bangladesh. They were carrying the photocopies of their passport but the original ones were not with them," Das said.

They were produced before the court of sub-divisional judicial magistrate Debjani Kilikdar during the day and remanded to three days in judicial custody.
