A 45-year old man and his sister from Puducherry allegedly committed suicide in a lodge near the famous Lord Muruga temple here while three other members of the family were feared to have ended their lives, police said.

The bodies of the two -- Srinivasan and his sister -- part of a five-member family from Krishna Nagar in Puducherry, were found in a decomposed state today with police saying they could have ended their lives two days ago.

Police recovered some poisonous substance containers and a suicide note in which the two had stated that they were taking the extreme step as they could not meet the medical expenses for the treatment of Srinivasan. They were also frustrated that the illness was not getting cured, police said.

Srinivasan's two other siblings and his niece, who had locked them inside, said in a separate note left in the same room, that they would also commit suicide by plunging into the sea.

Police were searching for the three persons and a team had been rushed to Puducherry for further investigations.
