Two persons were allegedly murdered by their friends in a brutal manner in the national capital over the last 24 hours.

Usman Khan (55), a scrap dealer, was bludgeoned to death by his friend Suresh (30) at the latter's rented apartment in south Delhi's Mehrauli area on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, following an argument over monetary issues, police said today.

"The two had been consuming liquor at Suresh's place when an argument ensued between the two. The argument soon turned ugly and Suresh repeatedly hit Khan with a blunt object," said a police official.

Suresh's landlady called the cops after she heard the commotion around 11:45 PM. A police team reached the spot and found Khan lying in a pool of blood. Suresh was standing nearby. He was not in his senses as he was heavily drunk. Seeing policemen he made an attempt to flee but was overpowered, the official said.

Khan was rushed to AIIMS trauma centre where he was declared brought dead. Suresh was arrested after a case of murder was registered at Mehrauli police station.

In another incident, 22-year-old Rajinder was stabbed to death by his friend in Kalkaji area of south Delhi, police said.

His body was found around 4 am by passersby who informed the police. There are more than a dozen stab wounds on the victim's body. The reason behind the attack will be established only after arrest of the accused, a police officer said, adding the accused, known to the victim, has been identified and efforts are on to nab him.
