2 pilgrims die of heart attack

Two Vaishno Devi-bound pilgrims, including a woman, died apparently after suffering a heart attack in Katra town of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Deendayal Gupta (64), hailing from Delhi, fell unconscious yesterday near Himkoti and was taken to a nearby dispensary where doctors declared him brought dead, a police officer said today.

In another incident, 65-year-old Rajeshwari Devi, hailing from Uttarakhand, fell unconscious yesterday near Gate Number 3 on the way to the 'Bhavan' and was taken to nearby dispensary where doctors declared her brought dead, he said.

Cause of death in both the cases seem to be cardiac arrest, the officer said, adding, a case has been registered and the bodies have been handed to the families.
