2 police officials shifted in Nirana harassment case

Two police officials have been transferred for dereliction of duty after a community in Nirana village here alleged harassment at the hands of a group of locals and threatened to leave the place, officials said today.

District Magistrate Rajive Kumar Sharma told reporters

SHO (Sikheda) Vikram Singh and Sub Inspector Mahesh Kumar have been shifted in connection with the case.

He said four persons--Shehzad, Tehsin, Gaffar and Rihan-- have been arrested in the case.

According to police, two persons from a particular community were threatened with dire consequences by the accused during a wedding in the village on June 29.

Although a case was registered in the matter, no arrests were made.

 

Meanwhile, the victims' families threatened to leave the village if the accused were not brought to book. They also put up "house on sale" boards outside their houses as a mark of protest.

The senior superintendent of police and district magistrate visited the village and assured the victims justice.

Security has been tightened in the village, police added.
