At least 12 persons were injured today when two groups clashed with each other over the outcome of a cricket match, leading to which police fired two rounds in the air to disperse them in Thangachimadam near here.
According to the police, the group which lost the match started pelting stones, injuring 10 people and damaging a police vehicle and a checkpost.
Two policemen, including a sub-inspector, also suffered injuries in the incident as the attackers also hurled petrol bombs.

The situation was brought under control, police said.
