2 policemen arrested for stealing truck tyres

Two policemen have been arrested for allegedly stealing six new tyres of a seized truck stationed outside Makanpur police station in Bilhaur area here, police said today.

Sub inspector Rakesh Pratap Singh and constable Ashok Kumar were today spotted replacing six tyres of a truck stationed outside Makanpur police station that was seized by the police a week ago, with old ones, A K Mishra, Superintendent of Police (Rural) said.

The accused were caught by the DCP of Bilhaur region while on a routine visit to the station, he said.

A case has been registered against the duo, police said, adding that Kumar who was earlier posted at the station has been transfered to Kannauj district.
 

A recommendation has been made to suspend the accused policemen to SSP Kanpur K S Emmanual, police said.

Further investigation is on to ascertain if more people were involved in the case, they added.
