2 policemen injured in grenade attack

Two policemen were injured when militants hurled a grenade at their vehicle today in Lawaypora area on the outskirts of the city.

The vehicle of Special Operations Group (SOG) of police came under attack in Lawaypora on Srinagar-Baramulla highway at around 9.00 PM, the police said.

Two policemen sustained minor injuries in the attack.

Sources said the police team was on its way to Sopore town in North Kashmir for an anti-insurgency operation.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
