A police inspector and an assistant sub inspector were today suspended for allegedly demanding bribes to release a man.

"The SHO and the ASI have been suspended and the matter is being probed," Udaipur SP said.

The action was taken by the SP after an audio clip went viral on WhatsApp in which the ASI is demanding a bribe of Rs 1.25 lakh to release the accused who was detained by him in a fraud case.

The audio clip is of a conversation between the ASI Ramlal and Abhishek over mobile phones where the latter promises that he would arrange Rs 1.25 lakh for release of the accused. Abhishek also mentioned that the SHO of Surajpole police station Jitendra Anchalia had already taken Rs 12 lakh.
