Two undertrial prisoners today tried to escape from the Diamond Harbour Correctional Home in South 24 Parganas district but failed and landed in hospital with broken legs.
District officials said Raja Mollah and Nasir Mollah, accused of theft and murder respectively, attempted to escape by scaling the boundary wall during the rains but fell down and broke their legs.
The two were admitted to hospital, the officials said.
