Irked by the remarks of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in which he had questioned the appointments of dozens of secretaries by HPCC President Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu without his consultation, two secretaries resigned from their posts today.

Pradeep Verma and Kusum Verma said they were "hurt" by the chief minister's remark who had failed to acknowledge their appointments.

The duo said they had been "serving the party for more than 25 years with dedication and had held various responsibilities" but that the comments made by chief minister had "hurt" them and they are tendering the resignation.

"We were appointed secretaries due to hard work done by us to strengthen the party after approval of AICC but the remarks of the chief minister have deeply hurt us," they said in a joint statement issued here today.

Last week, Virbhadra Singh had expressed his displeasure over the appointment of too many secretaries by HP Congress chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu saying it was not in the interest of the party and had sought high command's intervention.
