Two security guards saved a life when they prevented a woman from jumping off the eleventh floor of a mall at Janakpuri area in West Delhi, police said today.

The two, security guards, identified as Ram Kishore and Rupesh Kumar Singh, were on duty when they noticed a woman on the 11th floor of the West End mall trying to commit suicide by jumping off the balcony. The guards rushed to the spot and caught her before she could take a leap, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ranvir Singh.

The woman was then taken to Janakpuri police station and handed over to her guardians, he said.

The guards have been rewarded with Rs 5,000 each by the Joint Commissioner of Police (South Western Range) Tajendra Luthra for displaying sincerity, presence of mind and prompt response in saving the life of the woman, police said.

In August last year, a 25-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping off the 12th floor of the mall. A technician working in the mall was also injured as she fell on top of him on the ground floor.
