Two people sustained critical injuries in separate suicide attempts at two Delhi Metro stations today, police said.

25-year-old Mohammed Asif plunged almost 35-feet from the elevated platform of Jahangirpuri station at around 12.30 PM resulting in severe injuries, a police officer said.

"Asif, a resident of Narela, jumped from a height of at least 35-feet fracturing his arms and limbs. He was admitted in a critical condition at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital" the officer said.

In the second incident, 42-year-old Vijay Gupta, a resident of Karol Bagh, jumped in front a moving train at Shastri Nagar station resulting in severe head injury.

"He jumped in front of the train moving between Dilshad Garden and Rithala at around 3 PM. The moving train hit him injuring him severely in head and both his arms," police said.

Police said the man, undergoing treatment at the Hindu Rao hospital, is in a critical condition.

"It is too early to comment on the reasons behind them taking the extreme step. Moreover, both are in a critical condition at this moment," the officer added.

Metro operations were not affected by the suicide attempts, a Delhi Metro spokesperson said.
