Two alleged sharpshooters of Neeraj Bawania gang who were wanted in several cases were arrested from Outer Delhi's Lekhram Chowk, police said today.

Acting on a tip off, a crime branch team arrested Naveen Hooda alias Bhanja and Dinesh alias Tapa on February 18 and recovered a sophisticated pistol and a country-made pistol from them, a senior police official said.

"The duo were wanted in connection with five cases, including their alleged role in fleeing of Amit Malik alias Bhura from Uttarakhand police custody in Baghpat in December 2014, and a shoot out in August 2014 in which two members of the rival Neetu Daboda gang were killed at Subhash Place," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.

Malik, who carries a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on his arrest, is allegedly involved in dozens of cases.

"His accomplices including Naveen Hooda and Dinesh had freed him from police custody on December 15 last year after throwing chili powder on the police team escorting him while firing several rounds of bullets," police said.

Malik's accomplices also took away two AK-47 rifles along with an SLR from the policemen who were escorting him, police said.

The cops, on February 18, laid a trap at Lekhram Chowk on Karala Road and flagged down the targeted car coming from Begumpur and stopped it with the help of police vehicles.

The officer said that the occupants of the car tried to flee but were overpowered by the cops. The car was also found to be looted from Maurice Nagar area on January 17 this year and a case was registered by Delhi police in this connection.

Dinesh had joined the Neeraj Bawania gang last year and became its sharp-shooter. He disclosed that he was involved in all the five sensational cases except the shoot out at Subhash Place.

He also admitted that he along with his three other accomplices had brutally shot dead one Jawan in a running train due to personal enmity, Yadav added.
