2 shot dead, 3 injured over land dispute

Armed miscreants shot dead two persons and seriously injured three others in Gopalganj district of Bihar during a land-related quarrel between two groups today, the police said.

Gopalganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Anil Kumar Singh said the clash took place at Baijulapur village under Baikunthpur police station in the district.

The deceased have been identified as Shrish Rai (55) and Rajendra Raj (40).

Three others were injured in the incident and undergoing treatment.

"The firing happened between two groups of people during an altercation over a pending land dispute. One person died from each of the groups. We have arrested one named Badal Rai. An FIR has also been lodged," Singh said.
