Two teen-aged sisters today drowned in Godavari river while taking a holy dip on the outskirts of Dharampuri temple town about 70 km from here, police said today.
The incident took place when Katla Rajender of Kothapalli village along with his family members had come to visit the temple of Laxmi Narasinma Swamy, Dharmapuri Circle Inspector S Rajendra Prasad said.
Before entering the temple, they wanted to have a bath in the river. While doing so, his two daughters K Shravani(14) and K Shravika (12) drowned in the river, he said.
They were immediately pulled out, rushed to a local hospital where they were declared brought in dead, the officer said, adding their bodies have been sent for post mortem.
