Two teachers demanding regularization of their jobs climbed atop a water tank here at Bassi Pathana city today, police said.

Sarabjit Kaur from Mohali and Simarjit Singh from Mansa, climbed atop water reservoir ahead of the visit of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for holding a Sangat Darshan programme.

Other teachers were staging protest near the water reservoir and raised slogans against the government.

They ended their protest around 1 PM, when Fatehgarh Sahib SP, Daljit Singh Rana, and Bassi Pathana SHO, Hari Chand, assured them their meeting with the CM.

Later, teachers met Badal who assured them to fulfill their genuine demands.

Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar suspended the two cops for dereliction of duty.

Talking to reporters before their meeting with the CM, annoyed teachers alleged that the state government was trying to fool them by delaying discussion on their demands.

Teachers have been protesting against the state government demanding regularisation of their services, welfare allowances and leave facilities.
