2 teenaged boys end lives over failure in studies

Frustrated with their failure in clearing class IX annual examination, two teenaged boys allegedly committed suicide by laying down themeslves on a railway track near here today, police said.

M.Sankarpandi and Sanjay Kannan, both aged 14 and students of a private school at Alampatti, were close friends and had failed in the nineth annual examination.

They were anguished to remain in the same class and decided to end their lives. They left their houses, informing their parents that they are going for tuition last night.

Later, they had apparently laid down themselves on the track at Karisalpatti near Tirumangalam, about 30 km from here, when they saw a train coming fast and ran over by it.
 

Passers by who saw their mutilated bodies informed the Police this morning.

A railway official said the engine drivers would not have noticed the boys as they would have suddenly leaped in front of the track.
