: Two panchaloha (a mixture of five metals) idols were found on the National Highway at Karumathampatti near here Wednesday, police said.

On being informed, the police recovered the statues of Venugopalasamy and Sathyabama measuring three-foot tall and two-foot tall respectively.

Preliminary inquiry revealed they had been stolen from a temple in nearby Tirupur district a month ago, police said.

With CCTV footage of the spot where the recovery was made, the police began a probe to find out who had abandoned the idols.
