Two alleged thieves escaped from police custody when they were being taken to a court here, the police said today.
They pushed the constables escorting them and escaped yesterday, they said.
Both were arrested on the charges on stealing copper wires and transformer oils on Sunday, the police said.
They have been identified as Harpreet Singh and Pargat Singh of Nihalsingh Wala here, they said.
The constables Inderjeet Singh and Darshan Singh will face departmental inquiry in the matter, an official spokesman said.
