2 tourists from Nepal die on way to Puri after falling sick

Two women tourists from were found dead while seven others were rescued in serious condition at Malatipatpur bus stand in this pilgrim town today.

The two women, aged around 80 and 65 years and hailing from Bankati area of Nepal, were found dead soon after a bus carrying over 60 tourists from Nepal and Uttar Pradesh arrived at the bus stand, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Puri Dadar), Alekh Chandra Pahi.

The two had come to visit the seaside pilgrim town with their families.

The SDPO quoting their co-passengers said the two women and some other tourists had fallen sick on the way yesterday and complained of vomiting and diarrhoea.
 

The seven sick passengers were taken to the hospital here for treatment, he said adding, while four of them were now undergoing treatment at the hospital, three others were discharged after treatment.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and investigation was in progress to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident.
