2 traffic constables booked over death of 20-yr-old man in Pak

A 20-year-old biker in Pakistan died after traffic policemen tried to stop his motorcycle by grabbing the handle, causing it to skid on the road, a media report said today.

The man fell off the bike and died after hitting his head on a pavement here yesterday, while the other two riders were injured, Dawn reported.

Following the incident, people surrounded the traffic policemen, demanding their arrest.

Two traffic policemen were arrested and an FIR was registered against them, the paper said.

The family members of the victim were also nominated in the case.

According to the FIR, the Christian man died from a head injury from his fall.
 

The FIR was registered under Section 320 of the Pakistan Penal Code under charges of unintentional murder. However, residents of the 66 Quarter Christian Colony demanded that the officers be booked under Section 302 for intentional murder.

A three-member investigation committee headed by Superintendent of Police City Ahmed Iqbal was formed to probe the incident.
