2 ultras, a smuggler held

Two militants and a coal

smuggler were arrested separately when they tried to illegally cross over to Bangladesh from West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills districts, the police said.

The militants, identified as Lenush Marak and Alban Sangma belonging to the newly floated outfits A'chik Matgrik Elite Force and United Achik Liberation Army respectively, were nabbed by the BSF while trying to cross over to Bangladesh from Chandaboi in West Garo Hills district, SP Mukesh Singh said.

Three mobile phones were seized from their possession, he said.

In another incident, a smuggler identified as Jentil Marak was arrested after he was caught by the BSF trying to smuggle one bag full of coal (50 kg) in South West Khasi Hills district, police said.
 

A mobile handset with a Bangladesh SIM card was also found from his possession.
