After a brief chase and exchange of fire, police arrested two persons involved in robbery and murder cases, from Baneda flyover in Ghaziabad.

Subhash, resident of Loni, Ghaziabad, and Amit, resident of Kalyanpuri of Delhi, were arrested after police laid a trap at the flyover last night, police said, adding that no one was injured in the exchange of fire.

"Police got information that two wanted criminals on a bike were coming towards Baneda flyover late last night," a senior police officer said, adding that barricades were immediately erected and police started checking vehicles.

On seeing the police, the duo turned the bike and began to flee. When police chased them, they opened fire to which the cops also retaliated. The two were caught after some time, the officer said, adding that two country-made pistols were recovered from them.

During subsequent investigation, it surfaced that the two had been involved in a loot worth Rs 29 lakh in Loni area of Ghaziabad, the officer said.

One of the two arrested was also wanted in a murder case which took place in Bisrakh area of Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, police said, adding that further probe is underway.
