Two women have been arrested in the UK by Scotland Yard on suspicion of trying to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State terror group.
"Officers from the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command arrested a 20-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts, namely travelling to Syria to join a proscribed organisation," a Met Police statement said.
The arrest in central London took place yesterday and both remain in custody at a central London police station.
