A young girl committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her home in Kulgam town, 75 kms from here, a police spokesman said.
He said another woman ended her life in a similar manner at village Dardgund near Kulgam town.
The motive behind their taking the extreme step could not be ascertained, the spokesman said adding police registered separate cases in connection with the incidents.
The spokesman said police fished out the decomposed body of a 30-year-old person from Dal Lake near Shikara Ghat Lam in Nishat area of Srinagar.
He said the body of 37-year-old Mohammad Shafi was fished out from river Jhelum near police station Pantha chowk on the outskirts of the city.
Shafi, a resident of Karnah, had drowned while crossing the river on June 17 near Sempora in Pulwama district, he said.
