'Nonavailability' of doctors at a government-run health centre in Bansdeeh area here led to the death of two women as they allegedly did not get timely medical aid, following which locals staged protests.

Families of Ranjana Mishra (40) and Munni Patel alleged that there were no doctors at the community health centre last night due to which the two women died around 1 AM.

Locals staged a protest today to demand action against the doctors at the health centre and blocked Bansdeeh-Ballia road, causing traffic.

Acting District Magistrate K Balaji said the matter has been brought to his notice and he has sought a report in this regard from the Chief Medical Officer.

"After the report, action will be taken against the guilty," he said.
