Two women were arrested for their alleged involvement in thefts inside Metro trains and stolen jewellery have been recovered from their possession, police said today.
Anita and Shanti were arrested based on a complaint filed by one Nishat that her small bag containing a gold necklace, gold ring and other articles were stolen inside a Metro train on Tuesday.
The information was developed through secret informer and it came to notice that two women residents of Jugghi colony Shadipur depot have stolen some jewellery articles from Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.
"These ladies used to travel in Metro in a group of two or three for the purpose of pick-pocketing and choose crowded metro stations and identify the lady carrying bag on her shoulder and follow her. They would then steal purse, money, jewelry etc from the bag by opening the zip from backside," a senior police official said.
