Two women were today killed and 12 others injured when a bus carrying about 50 members of a spiritual group overturned near Milak village in Meerut district, police said.
The incident occurred early in the morning when the driver of the Sardhana-bound bus carrying Dera Sacha Sauda followers lost control while trying to overtake another vehicle. The bus fell into a 10ft deep ditch and turned turtle.
The deceased have been identified as Chandro, 50, and Jayawati, 58, from Bijnor, police said, adding that the injured are being treated at a local hospital.
