Two women, key operators behind the 'blackmail sex scam', who surrendered last night were brought here today in connection with the investigation into the suicide of a person stated to be a victim of the gang.

The women, wanted in the scam in which several people including politicians and businessmen were allegedly lured into sex traps and money was extorted from them, had surrendered before police in Kochi last night.

They were brought here as part of the probe into the suicide of a businessman at nearby Venjaramood last month, allegedly due to blackmail threats by the gang.

"They are being questioned now and would be produced in the court tomorrow," police said.

They appeared before the police yesterday accompanied with their lawyer and said they were surrendering on their own. They were then taken to the Women Police station.

In what has come to be known as "blackmail sex scam" in local parlance, these two women allegedly played a key role in luring their victims to sex traps to extort money from them.

They had allegedly taken videos of several persons, including businessmen and politicians, which they used to blackmail them.

The case took a sensational turn when another accused Jayachandran was arrested on July 24 here where he had allegedly used a room in the MLA's hostel as a hideout.
