2 youths drown in Bawana canal

Two youths drowned in the Bawana canal in outer Delhi today when they had gone to fetch their football which had landed on the water during a game.

While the body of one of the deceased, Shaurya (15), a resident of Yadav Nagar, was recovered that of Priyansh was yet to traced.

The incident happened around 6 AM when they were playing football and their ball went into the river. To get the ball, Shaurya got into the water. Priyansh saw him struggling in the water and jumped into the canal.

Seeing both of them drowning, another boy also jumped into the canal but failed to rescue them. He then raised an alarm and passersby informed the police.
 

Soon police, boat club and fire brigade officials reached the spot and after a lot of efforts, they traced Shaurya's body near Haiderpur plant while Priyansh is yet to be traced.

"Efforts are on to trace Priyansh," said a police officer.

According to police, Priyansh is Shaurya's cousin and had come to stay with them during summer vacations.
