Three people, including two Zambian nationals, were arrested here for allegedly stealing motorcycles, laptop and other items and selling them, police said today.

Sadar Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Lakhvir Singh said the accused were identified as Joey Mrula, Alan Machile, both from Zambia, and Aman Bagga from Fateh Singh Nagar in Punjab.

He said they were operating in Kapurthala and adjoining districts, including Jalandhar.

Four motorcycles, one laptop, two mobile phones and two wrist watches, all allegedly stolen by them, were recovered from the accused, he said.

He said the Zambian nationals were former students of a private university here and were staying in its neighbourhood after completion of their degrees.

They were nabbed when they were waiting for a customer for selling two stolen bikes in Maheru village, he said.

They were booked under sections 379 (punishment for theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of IPC, said the SHO.
