20 including MNS legislator held for vandalising toll booth

The MNS has been since sometime opposing the collection of toll in the state without providing any amenities and better services to the citizens

A MNS legislator was among 20 people arrested today for allegedly vandalising a toll booth in Dombivili township of Thane district, police said.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena MLA from Dombivili, Ramesh Ratan Patil was arrested along with others including some suspected party activists, after they vandalised a toll booth at Katai.

The traffic on Thane-Kalyan road was held up for quite some time due to the agitation, police said.

The MNS has been since sometime opposing the collection of toll in the state without providing any amenities and better services to the citizens.

As a part of the ongoing agitation, several protestors attacked the toll booth at around 11 AM and damaged the equipment and furniture there, Manpada police said.
 

Those arrested have been charged under various sections of the IPC and also under relevant sections of Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1932, and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984 and Bombay Police Act, police said.
