20 kg landmine recovered during anti-Maoist operation

A powerful landmine was recovered by the security personnel during a search operation on Pratappur-Gajwa main road under Pratappur police station area in Chatra district today, the police said.

Acting on a tip-off, Superintendent of Police, Anjani Kumar Jha said a special search operation led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Ops) Ashwini Mishra was launched on Monday.

The security personnel comprising of CRPF and District Armed Police stumbled on the explosive planted underneath the Pratappur-Gajwa main Road, he said adding the landmine weighed 20 kg.

A bomb disposal squad of the CRPF rushed to the spot to defuse the explosive, he said.
 

Jha said the landmine was planted by the CPI(Maoists) to target the security personnel on anti-Maoist campaign.
