20-member Cong poll panel for Goa

Congress today set up a 20-member Pradesh Election Committee for Goa comprising several senior leaders including former chief ministers Pratapsinh Rane, Digambar Kamat, Ravi Naik, Churchil Alemao and Francisco Sardinha.

PCC chief John F Fernandes and his predecessor Subhash Shirodkar and party MP Shantaram Naik too are members of the panel cleared by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Besides, the party appointed six vice presidents, ten general secretaries, ten secretaries and a treasurer for the coastal state.

Of the new vice presidents - Moti Desai, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenseo, Pramoda Salgaokar, Akbar Mulla, Monic Dias and Govind Gaude - two are women.
 

Of late Rahul Gandhi has been giving emphasis on giving larger representation to women in party organisation.

Shambhubhau Bhanderkar has been appointed treasurer.
