A special vigilance court today sentenced a 74-year-old retired Superintending Engineer of Cuttack division Rural Water Supply Sanitation (RWSS) to 20 months rigorous imprisonment in a case of possession of disproportionate assets (DA).

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 2 lakh on Bipin Bihari Panda and, in default, he will undergo RI for another six months.

His parental house in Aska and his relatives' houses in Bhanjanagar had also been searched simultaneously.

Vigilance sleuths had detected disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 30.10 lakh in his possession.
