Some villagers in Siral village complained of body ache, fever, swelling and vomiting, a week after eating the meat which was sold to them by a man from a nearby village on April 14.
Initially they mistook it as the seasonal fever, but later when they consulted doctors they were diagnosed with trichinosis.
The disease is caused by larvae of trichina which are transmitted to humans usually through consumption of infected pork meat and the symptoms surface only after four to ten days after consumption.
"A health team has been sent to the village to give medical aid to the villagers," district magistrate of Pauri Neeraj Yadav said.
