20 people get life term in ex-serviceman's murder case

Twenty people have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here in a 10-year-old murder case of an ex-serviceman.

Additional Sessions Judge Amarpal Singh yesterday convicted and awarded life imprisonment to the 20 people for the murder of Pashupati Nath Misra (47) in Gariya Dangarbandh village under Haldi police station area on May 17, 2005, prosecution counsel Bharat Tweari said.

The convicts had attacked the house of Misra and killed him following a minor issue involving children, he said.

Those sentenced were Ganesh Yadav, Satya Narain, Rajesh Gupta, Sanjay, Uma Shankar, Baliram, Rajan, Yogendra, Ramji, Umesh, Dinanath, Manji, Prem Shankar, Hari Shankar, Rajesh Yadav, Munna, Guddu, Sitaram, Hira and Shivji Yadav, the counsel said.
 

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of the convicts, he added.
