Around 20 tonnes of silkworm waste manure, which was ferried illegally, was seized today in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.

The silkworm waste was being transported illegally from Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh. The vehicle was impounded at a fish pond in Chetaky village and the silkworm waste manure was seized, Kykaluru Sub-Inspector Ch. Ranjitkumar said.

The vehicle driver and fishpond owner were arrested, he said, adding a case under relevant sections of IPC was registered.

Silkworm waste manure is used for feeding fish. However, this is considered harmful for humans and is banned, but some farmers still use it for feeding fish, officials from Fisheries department.
