A court here has awarded 20 years' rigorous imprisonment to two men for abducting and raping a minor tribal girl in 2015.

Special judge for cases under the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act Yogesh Pareek also imposed a fine of Rs 11,000 each on Raki Yadav (22) and his cousin Ravi Yadav (24) yesterday, said public prosecutor Ramesh Singh Yadav.

On April 18, 2015, the duo, residents of Gharipakhna village, abducted the 17-year-old girl from a nearby village, took her to their home and raped her, the prosecutor said.

They held her captive in a secluded place for some days and sexually assaulted her multiple times. However, the girl managed to escape.

Based on her complaint, the accused were arrested under section 366 (kidnapping) and 376 (d) (gang rape).
