2000 odd ancient pottery shreds found at Pattanam

These findings are different from the already known Mediterranean, West Asian, Harrappan and Chinese pottery remains, according to experts of the Kerala Council for Historical Research (KCHR), which is leading the excavations.

The remains of a human skeleton were also found during the excavations.

The findings would be made be public at an International workshop being planned by the council in September this year along with the British Museum, London, according to KCHR Head of Pattanam Excavations P J Cherian.

The process of conservation of a canoe, excavated from Pattanam, would begin soon, he said.

The sixth session of the excavations, which began in January this year, concluded this month.
