2012-13 to be observed as official language year

The decision was taken today at a meeting of the high level committee on official language, Presided over by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, an official press release here said.

As part of the observance of the official language year, notices would be pasted before November 1 in all government offices requesting people to submit petitions and suggestions in Malayalam.

Boards in front of officials' rooms should be in Malayalam and government vehicles should carry boards indicating the departments in the official language.

Malayalam language cell would be formed in all departments and a coordinator would be posted in each department to see whether the instructions of the official language committee were being followed, the release said.

 

Chief Secretary K Jayakumar, Jnanpith laureate O N V Kurup, writer George Onakkoor, Palode Ravi MLA and official language department secretary K Suresh Kumar were among those present at the meeting.
