A flawless electoral roll using a new software is being preparedfor the 2017 Assembly polls in Uttarakhand and the process will be over by August 20, Chief Electoral Officer Radha Raturi said here today.
Raturi told a press conference, there could be a rise in the number of polling stations in the state by 300-400 and two stations would be located at a distance not more than 2 km, she said.
People have to travel a distance of 15-17 km at many places inthe hill areas to reach to a polling station.

She said 10,344 polling stations have been physically verified till March 31 this year and suggestions sought from political parties as to where new stations can be set up, she said.
There are 73,18,225 voters in Uttarakhand at present with the maximum of 13.13 lakh in Dehradun alone.
Elections are due in Uttarakhand early next year.
