As many as 21,974 candidates are in the fray for the March 7 elections to Urban Local Bodies in Karnataka, State Election Commission said today.
Besides 4,492 Congress and 3,954 BJP candidates, 5,900 will contest as Independents.
As many as 1,966 and 1,496 candidates belonging to Karnataka Janata Party and BSR Congress respectively and 3,651 from JDS are also in the fray.
As many as 3,579 nomination papers were rejected on February 26 after scrutiny, SEC sources said.
