Police today seized 21 head of cattle, including cows and buffaloes, being smuggled in a lorry to Kerala from Karnataka, in the wee hours today.
A few members of the public noticed the lorry, fully loaded with the animals near Ganapathy around 2 AM and informed police, who rushed to the spot, police said.
The driver, Nazeem was taken into custody for interrogation and preliminary investigation revealed that the animals were being brought from Mandya in Karnataka to Kerala, they said.
The buffaloes and cows were handed over to a Goshala at Narsipuram here.
