Road accident and traffic violations have come down by 21 per cent in the district so far this year when compared to last year, Collector K Rajamani said on Tuesday.
Attributing the decline to installation of CCTV cameras at strategic points and busy areas, Rajamani said the cooperation from the public on safety awareness also contributed to this.
He was speaking after flagging off an helmet awarenes rally here.
There was a stringent rule in the state to use helmet while riding two-wheelers, he said and sought cooperation of the public to abide by the rule.
About 100 people participated in the rally.
