BSF today seized 21 kg heroin worth Rs 21 crore in the international market, which was smuggled in by alleged Pakistani nationals along the Indo-Pak border here.
However, the smugglers, who had hurled packets of the drug across the border fence into Indian territory, managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
BSF DIG R S Kataria said that incident took place around 3:30 AM when a BSF night patrol party noticed suspicious movement near a Border Outpost along the Indo-Pak border.

When BSF troops challenged the smugglers, they were met with gun shots.
The border troops then returned the fire, but the smugglers escaped.
The DIG said when a search operation was launched in the morning, 21 heroin packets (of 1 kg each) and one loaded shot gun of Italian make were seized.
